Who Knew?

Maria Salomea Sklodowska, a.k.a. Marie Curie, the Nobel Prize winning (twice) scientist for her explorations into radiation, succumbed in 1934 to a type of anemia likely brought on through her years of exposure to extreme radiation.  Why this conclusion?  Her original papers and notes are still so radioactive that they’re kept in lead-lined boxes and researches must wear protective gear to see them.  Article by Lacy Schley in the May 2017 issue of Discover magazine.
