Maria Salomea Sklodowska, a.k.a. Marie Curie, the Nobel
Prize winning (twice) scientist for her explorations into radiation, succumbed
in 1934 to a type of anemia likely brought on through her years of exposure to
extreme radiation. Why this conclusion? Her original papers and notes are still so
radioactive that they’re kept in lead-lined boxes and researches must wear
protective gear to see them.
