No More Confusion

There seems to be a lot of chatter of late regarding what's called "American Exceptionalism."  Apparently many folks are way, way off the mark with what this phrase means.  It has nothing whatsoever to do with a concept of "superiority."  It has everything to do with the manner in which the United States was founded - that was exceptional, and set up the template for unimagined achievements by individuals.  It's not complicated, it's summed up very nicely:



We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed...

It's a philosophy that works.  Those who get it, get it.  Those who don't, can't.
